On Gerrard Street look out for the jade door and orb light next to Lotus Garden and you’ll have found this secret bar. Set over two floors with three bars to explore throughout, this cocktail and dim sum parlour is a whirlwind for your senses. Shanghai-themed throughout, The Apothecary Bar, The Academy Bar and The Peony Bar all serve their own individual signature menus. The drinks cover all manner of influences, from ancient remedies to Asian cooking and even Chinese cities, all served with a certain level of showmanship in a vast collection of cups, glasses, pots and more. Our favourite spot in the place has to be the bartender table, found upstairs in the Academy Bar, where you get to feel a part of the action as the bartenders work their magic. They are open late most nights, serving both food and drinks until then too, so it’s always a good shout for a last stop.
