WHY WE LOVE THIS BAR...

Long Bar is quite simply an institution. Designed by Philippe Starck in 1998 and featuring some of his most iconic designs within the space, the bar has stood the test of time as the cocktail scene expanded around it. His infamous Ghost Chairs have now been reimagined as high silver bar stools and flank the 80-foot bar top - but the whimsical 'eye' design is still firmly on the back of each stool and apparently have "seen it all". The 90s and Noughties were pretty wild - we bet they have.

While the ceiling above the bar is filled with flowers, there is also a very pretty covered courtyard garden, perfect for a quieter afternoon or evening in the heart of the West End (although the thrill of a seat at the bar still holds it for us). Starck himself was quoted as saying, "I dedicate the Sanderson to mental games, optical illusions, to eccentricities, to dreams, to successful impossibilities. When you arrive in the hotel, you do not really understand what is going on. Nothing is really in its place, nothing really has its true volume, its true size."
