WHY WE LOVE THIS BAR...
Leaf & Cane, tucked away in the heart of the City, occupies a space with an unusual and intriguing past. Once a women’s prison, nine of the original cells have been retained and transformed into private, intimate seating areas — yes, the bars remain, adding a playful nod to history. The interior contrasts this heritage with a lush, tropical aesthetic, featuring layers of foliage, leafy wallpaper, and rich greenery that create a sense of escape from the busy streets outside.
The design balances drama with comfort, encouraging guests to move between the vibrant communal areas and the quieter, more secluded corners of the former cells. Lighting and textures are carefully considered, giving the space warmth and depth without losing the energy of the bar.
Leaf & Cane is the type of venue that surprises at every turn: a setting where history meets playful, immersive design, offering an experience that feels both unique and welcoming. Whether stopping by for a brief visit or lingering for the evening, it provides a city-centre oasis that invites guests to relax, explore, and enjoy the unexpected.
