WHY WE LOVE THIS BAR...
Sitting in a prime location between King’s Cross and St Pancras Stations, this gorgeous Grade II listed building is a standout amidst the area’s shining glass and metal high-rises. Boasting a beautifully restored all-day grand cafe, sophisticated restaurant dishing out refined modern fare, two breathtaking bars, and a vast outdoor terrace, German Gymnasium is a return to the mega-brasserie style of their 90s heyday. The grand café is a spectacle to behold, with theatrical staircases linking the sprawling, marble-floored dining room to secluded tables tucked behind gleaming pillars. The Mittel-European menu is, by contrast, homely and unsurprisingly meat-driven, with a German-led wine list to pair. Both bars are sights to behold, with elegant cocktails to match, which can be enjoyed whilst overlooking the mezzanine and admiring the glimmering architecture all around.
